Our approach is distinctive because it builds on universal laws of human nature that are validated by the latest scientific research, exemplified by the lives of great leaders, and operationalized by a practical toolkit you can implement immediately.
We approach leadership from the inside out by showing you how to maximize your outer impact by first pursuing inner mastery.
There are no eligibility criteria for taking an IPL online program. The only requirements would be a sound understanding of the English language and a good Internet connection to allow you to stream the learning videos smoothly.
All of IPL’s programs are conducted online and participants do not physically meet instructors and peers. You will, however, get to interact with other participants via reflections and discussions on IPL’s learning platforms.
Our work is based on Professor Hitendra Wadhwa’s widely acclaimed research and teaching at Columbia Business School, and he is the instructor in all of IPL’s online programs. He is Professor of Practice at Columbia Business School, where he teaches MBA and Executive Education programs on Personal Leadership, Driving Strategic Impact and Leading from the Inside-Out.
Through a partnership between IPL and Columbia Business School, Professor Wadhwa was the first leadership faculty at a top business school to launch an online executive education program in 2012. To learn more about Professor Hitendra Wadhwa, click here.

IPL, in partnership with Columbia Business School Executive Education, offer 12-week Executive Programs and 6-week Master Classes. These programs are self-paced, and each program consists of several online learning modules. Each learning module typically includes a series of video-lectures along with the opportunity for personal reflection, community-wide discussion, occasional quizzes and practice challenges.
We will provide you the login username and password for accessing our online platforms. All lectures are delivered online. You can watch these at your convenience, so it is not required of you to be online at any fixed time. The online lectures are also available to be downloaded temporarily on your mobile device through IPL’s proprietary mobile app, myPL.
The online programs are fairly flexible and are geared toward working professionals and senior executives. We recommend investing roughly 3 hours each week; but often, participants spend several hours in bursts of immersion over the weekend to complete the pending modules. Sometimes executives even travel for 1-2 weeks and then come back and catch up with the program content.
There are no live sessions in the programs we are offering currently. In all our online programs, you can choose to review the learning modules at your convenient time and pace, within the program duration.
We recommend dedicating 3 hours each week for Executive Programs and 2 hours for Master Classes, though some participants prefer to do the program in “bursts” of immersion (several hours at one-go with no standard weekly commitment).
Yes, you are free to take multiple programs at a time, as you have complete flexibility to review the programs at your convenience.
In the case of Executive Programs, you will have access for 1 month after the completion of the stipulated 12 weeks. For Master Classes, you will have access for 2 weeks after the end of the stipulated 6 weeks.
Yes, the participants will need to complete the program by the official end date – 12 weeks for Executive Programs and 6 weeks for Master Classes.
You will receive an electronic Certificate of Completion from the Institute for Personal Leadership & Columbia Business School Executive Education. As part of our policy, we do not share physical/printed certificates as our participants come in from all over the world. Once you receive the electronic Certificate, you can save it on your electronic devices (laptops/smartphones) in a PDF format, connect it to your LinkedIn profile, and take a print out as well.
The Certificate will state that the participant has been granted the Certificate of Completion for the Executive Program/Master Class, held in partnership with Columbia Business School Executive Education. The Certificate will also bear the signature of IPL’s Founder, Professor Wadhwa, and the Associate Dean of Columbia Business School Executive Education. See example certificate here.
The program delivery system currently used is known as Canvas. This system enables participants to access program assignments, video lectures, the IPL Toolbox, and exams. Students can engage in online reflections and discussions with classmates and instructors 24-hours per day. Students can monitor progress through an interactive gradebook tool.
myPL is IPL’s proprietary mobile app that provides great learning flexibility to the participants. It allows the participants to watch the program videos and participate in reflections & discussions through their smartphones/other portable devices, on-the-go. The participants can even download the learning modules on their devices and watch them offline.
Virtual Mentor is IPL’s proprietary mobile app for practicing the skills learned in the programs through role-play challenges, peer feedback and from top performers. It is available as a part of select Science of People programs.
