This class will strengthen your effectiveness in developing your people by giving them effective feedback and coaching.

As a leader, you need to hold a mirror in front of your people so that they understand their strengths and development needs and take appropriate action to close performance gaps on a regular basis. But delivering effective feedback is not easy. It can be a highly sensitive conversation with a strong risk of leaving the other party upset, in disagreement, or unclear about the outcome. Developing People from the Inside-Out will help you understand how giving feedback requires you to focus not simply on your communication with the recipient, but also your –and their – thoughts, beliefs, and emotions. By mastering these inner elements, you create the conditions for an effective feedback dialog. This class introduces you to 5 principles of feedback, provides you a tool for planning and executing feedback, and trains you in how to develop a “feedback-friendly” culture within your team where feedback is freely exchanged and valued by all.

Coaching is a powerful way for you to help your people grow to their full potential. Yet most managers do not see coaching as one of their formal responsibilities, or are often limited in their effectiveness in on-the-job coaching. Developing People from the Inside-Out introduces you to powerful principles on coaching from the inside out, and to a step-by-step approach for executing a coaching dialog. You will get hands-on understanding of how to coach your people in cultivating self-awareness, pursuing personal change goals, challenging their mindsets, and learning from experience. You will walk away from this class with a deeper appreciation for the untapped potential there is to develop your people through everyday, on-the-job coaching.
